Vortrag zu Kinderarbeit und Kindersklaverei

Professor Meier vom Fachbereich Wirtschaft der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg hält am Donnerstag, 23. April beim American German Business Club (AGBC) einen Vortrag zu Kinderarbeit und Kindersklaverei. Der Vortrag ist in Englisch.
Im Anschluss wird Professor Meier kurz einen neuen Weiterbildungsstudiengang "NGO Management" vorstellen, den die Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg ab Wintersemester 2009/2010 am Standort Rheinbach anbietet.

Challenges for companies, corporate clients and customers
Five year old Juanes and his child colleagues have to heave stones hours for hours which are two kilograms, and day by day in the heat of Peru … also for US and German corporate industrial sites there and for the export to the industrial countries. Child work is forbidden in our countries, but nearly all products and profits are touched with the blood and sweat from child work and child slavery today … it does not matter if we buy textiles from C&A, Levi`s or Gap, Esprit or H&M, if we eat fruits from Chiquita, food from Nestle or even drink a Coke or buy a happy meal bag at McDonald´s. Worldwide more than 400 Million children in the age from four to fourteen are working. And even in the Western industrial countries child work is an increasing mass phenomenon. The presentation shows the history and tradition of child work and the current reasons and branches, which are in the focus campaign against child work with their targets and concepts.
